Does Law of Attraction mean No Action? – Komal Sikka

Have you heard people telling you that you can attract anything that you want in your life using the Law of Attraction and that you don’t need to do anything? Has that left you confused? Stuff in the head and all is fine, but how will things get accomplished in reality if I don’t act? Does law of attraction really tell me not to act at all? Let’s decode this mystery today!

If I simply show up and tell you that it’s is a myth that Law of Attraction means no action, you wouldn’t believe me, right? Hence, the need for this write-up. Let me break down action first. Action that we traditionally know can be of two types: efforted action and inspired action. It depends on the place it’s coming from. Is it an inspiration or an urge? Umm, what’s the difference? I expected that. HuhuhahahaI’m prepared. Urge is when you have tension in your thoughts – if I don’t take this action, something will go wrong. Or I might miss out on something. Or how will this change if I don’t do this. Precisely, it’s something you, deep down, don’t want to do but you feel that you “have to” do or are “supposed to” do otherwise the world might end. Well, not really, but you get the point. On the other hand, inspiration is a feeling so good that you can’t stay without taking that action. In that moment, it feels like the only right thing to do. It might sound crazy or illogical or wrong or completely out of the blue, but if it feels so good like something inside you is pushing you to do it, that’s most likely an inspiration. Why do I say most likely? Because an urge can come disguised as an inspiration too. An urge can come up to you telling you to take an action so strong that you can’t stay without following it. Then, how do we know? This is where the crux of this article lies. Keep reading!

My thumb rule – will I still want to take this action if it didn’t give me what I want? Even if the outcome is not what I expect? If yes, it’s your inspiration. You are following the calling of your inner being based on pure trust. In spite of not knowing wht it will lead to, the idea of taking this action feels so good that you want to take it ONLY for the pleasure of taking that action, irrespective of the outcome. Because then, no matter what happens at the end of it, you milked the pleasure of the moment in taking that actionso much that the purpose of inspiration is achieved, i.e. to make you feel good! But if you feel that you’re going to wobble if you don’t receive your expectation from the action, it’s an urge. You have an attachment to the outcome. That’s resistance. And what does resistance create? I’ll give you a minute. CONTRAST!

NOTE: Is attachment to desire a bad thingWe’ll tackle that head-on next week.

So, in short – the shortest path to your desires? Follow the inspiration of your inner being. It knows everything. Things that you say, things that you don’t say, things that you don’t even know. It is the existence within us beneath all the thoughts and emotions and ideas and ifs and buts and everything our conscious mind can think of. And that silent existence knows everything. And it also knows the path to what we want. If only, we could trust it.

How to practice listening to it? Keep watching the ideas of taking actions popping up in your head. Test the idea through the above thumb rule. If it passes the benchmark of being an inspiration, follow it NO MATTER WHAT! If it doesn’t, stay away! Try it for 1 week. No matter what judgements or arguments or logic comes to your mind, keep it aside for 1 week. Don’t entertain anything else other than inspiration. Logic gayatel lene – Bhai ne bola karne ka matlab karne ka! (Logic can go out the window. If boss says do, do it!) Make this one statement a mantra of your lifeBe a Circuit to your Munna Bhai (inner being) for JUST ONE WEEK! And see the massive changes in your life.

Inspiration to sleep for 1 more hour knocks!

Mind: I have to login, so much work to do.

Circuit: Bhai ne bola karne ka matlab karne ka!

Mind: But there are so much household chores left.

Circuit: Bhai ne bola karne ka matlab karne ka!

Mind: But I have so many responsibilities. Who’s going to take care of the maid?

Circuit: Bhai ne bola karne ka matlab karne ka!

This is going to make you experience three things:

1. No matter how important you make yourself feel in your head, no work stops if you are not around.

2. And that’s a good thing, why? Because it means whatever has to be done, your inner being will find a way to get it done WHILE you are chilling out, too! When you make following your inspiration and having fun a priority, you will begin to notice how your inner being supports you in all your extra responsibilities that are keeping you from having fun. Someone will show up to take care of the maid, deadline of the office assignment will get postponed, or maybe it’s a boundary you could push a little which you didn’t know about. The possibilities in which you are supported are endless. Just give up the fear and give trust a try!

3. The most important thing – having fun feels good! And it’s possible to go through everyday life WHILE having fun. They don’t have to be two parallel tracks.

The more we trust the inner being, the more our inner being is going to trust us and give us the nudges that take us straight to our desires. Invest some time in forming that relationship of love, trust, and flow between you and your inner being. And over the time, it’s only going to get easier and so much more fun. Because that’s what the essence of inner being is – fun and joy. By practicing fun and joy, we get more aligned with the inner being’s version of us; we become more and more like our inner being.

ADDED BONUS: Listening to yourself is the biggest form of self-love one can practice!

So now, going back to the original question – does law of attraction mean no action? No! Absolutely no! What’s the fun in that? Law of Attraction emphasizes on inspired action, instead of efforted action; on following inspiration instead of urge. The people who follow inspiration will always respond to the urge this way – “I don’t need to do this. What I want will happen!” And that’s why the people who don’t understand this difference interpret it as “Law of Attraction means no action!”. Ooohhhhhh nowwwwww I get it! Seeeeeee? Now you’re smart enough to know the difference.
